By entering a strategic partnership with signageOS, NEC enhances their open and modular approach to unify digital signage.
Munich/Amsterdam, February 12, 2020 – NEC Display Solutions Europe reinforces their Open Modular intelligence (OMi) concept, which leverages diverse computing hardware technologies with scalable performance-levels by releasing the NEC Open Modular Platform, crafted from the strategic partnership with signageOS. The platform’s open, modular approach is enabled by signageOS technology, and provides single code-based API access to connect to NEC hardware. This uniformed incorporation of signageOS' optimized technologies to power the NEC Open Modular Platform goes beyond traditional operating systems.
The NEC Open Modular Platform enables the strengthening of existing partnerships and the creation of new business opportunities for partners. It does this by providing additional flexibility to easily integrate with any supported hardware or software from the NEC digital signage ecosystem.

By teaming up with signageOS, NEC takes the Open Modular approach to the next level and offers a joint solution tailored specifically for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module, yet also provides upgrade paths to OPS and SDM for more demanding applications.
